Coeur d’Alene
Coeur d’Alene is a beautiful place to visit. It has the world’s longest floating boardwalk where you can spot wildlife and see the amazing lake views. It was built in 1986 and is over 3/4 of a mile long. The Coeur d’Alene City Park and City Beach area is only a couple of minutes from Downtown. You can play basketball, have a picnic, or play on the wooden playground modeled after the real Fort Sherman, which used to stand near the site. Located by the park is the Centennial Trail that is paved and perfect for bike riding, roller-blading, strollers, or walking. Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises explore the bays and inlets of one of the world’s most beautiful lakes. The West Coast River Queen on the Spokane River offers cruises and dinner trips.
Kellogg
Kellogg is the largest mining town in the Northern Idaho area. Visit the Crystal Gold Mine Museum, the Staff House Museum and the Sunshine Mine Memorial to learn about mining history in Kellogg. Crystal Gold Mine Museum is the only authentic 1880’s underground gold mine museum in the Northwest! There are underground mine tours, a museum, and a gift shop that are open year-round with seasonal gold panning. For some outdoor activity, you can visit Silver Mountain Resort where you can ski, mountain bike, hike or go horseback riding after a short ride on the world’s longest single-stage gondola.
Southeastern ID
There are trails in the Trinity Lakes Area for hiking or snowmobiling. Check out the rock formations at Gooding City of Rocks. Ski, snowshoe or snowmobile at Diamondfield Jack snow-play area or Gooding County Snow Park. Then, the family will love a stop at Anderson Camp Waterslide Fun Center in Twin Falls.
Pocatello
In Pocatello, visit Cherry Springs Nature Trail which has three self-guided trails, 50 interpretive signs, two learning centers and an amphitheater. Then, don’t miss the Pocatello Zoo, the many historical museums and the beautiful golf courses that Idaho has to offer.
Montpelier
Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge has sparkling, turquoise colored water, water activities, trails for skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Explore the Formation Springs Conservation Area where there is a cave, mineral pools and interesting geological formations.
